Training webinar for lawyers on April 10, 2014, on new TCPA rules and regulations

My partner Stan Herring is going to be doing a training for lawyers in Alabama and outside Alabama on the changes to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) which have occurred recently with new regulations that went into effect in October 2013.  There are also changes by judges that are happening on an almost daily basis it seems.

You can sign up for this webinar here at the M. Lee Smith website.

Here are the highlights:

In 2012, the Federal Communications Commission unveiled new rules under the TCPA, which became effective on October 16, 2013. Provisions include:

  • Prior express written consent for all autodialed or pre-recorded telemarketing calls
  • Abolishment of “established business relationship” exception
  • Requirement of interactive opt-out mechanism
  • Tightening limits on “abandoned” calls during the course of an advertising campaign

By participating in this interactive webinar on April 10, you’ll learn what the TCPA allows, what damages may be recovered, and who is liable under the new regs. This is an informative and timely event you can’t afford to miss!

Your Webinar Agenda:

  • What the Telephone Consumer Protection Act allows and prohibits (Hint: It prohibits many text messages, not just “calls.”)

  • Why businesses who use telemarketing hate the new rules

  • How consumers can recover up to $1500 per call, even if the call is not answered

  • How your client can revoke permission to call or text and how to prove this

  • Who is liable under this act — it is not just the company that calls or texts

  • How to add a profitable area of practice to your firm (defense or plaintiff) while helping your clients

Stan handles TCPA cases on a regular basis and is often consulted with by attorneys in Alabama and other states to either advise them on how to prepare their TCPA cases for trial or to get in their cases to take the lead at trial in federal court.

I know Stan will do a great job with this so if you are an attorney who is interested in this area of the law, this webinar is a convenient format to learn about the TCPA.
